Local SEO
Local SEO is optimising online presence for location-bound queries, crucial for businesses with physical locations or service areas.
Local SEO is its own discipline with its own ranking factors: proximity (distance from searcher), prominence (notability), relevance (query match). Google's Local Pack (3 businesses on map at top of SERP) is the primary goal. Optimisation: fully filled GBP, NAP consistency, local backlinks, reviews, and location pages on your own site.
Example
A dental practice with two locations (Breda and Tilburg) creates two separate landing pages with unique content per location, both linked to GBP. Within 6 months it ranks in the Local Pack for 'dentist Breda' and 'dentist Tilburg'.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need local SEO without a physical location?
Only if you serve locally ('service area business'). Purely online businesses don't need local SEO.
