Domain authority
Domain authority (DA) is a score from 1-100 estimating a domain's overall ranking power, developed by Moz and widely used in link analysis.
Domain Authority (DA) is not a Google metric — it's Moz's predictive model. Ahrefs has a counterpart (Domain Rating, DR), Semrush (Authority Score). Useful for comparing domains and estimating link quality, but Google uses its own non-public model. Treat them as indicators, not truth.
Example
Webrockmedia.nl has DR 25 and targets backlinks from DR 40+ sites. A link from a DR 70 site counts per Moz and Ahrefs as a significant authority boost.
Frequently asked questions
Can I increase my DA directly?
No — DA is derived from backlink growth and quality. Build strong backlinks from relevant, authoritative domains; DA follows.
